about
Shed a Little Light, released October 8th, 2019, is the latest single from Saskatoon based singer-songwriter Forrest Eaglespeaker's The North Sound. This telecaster-driven track toes the line between Alternative Country and Roots-Rock sparking imagination for listeners as if at one time Buck Owens were fronting roots rock pioneers The Band. Recorded in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with award winning producer Jesse Weiman of Nolita studios, The North Sound has created something that is honest and raw, energetic and melancholy, catchy and smart wrapped up tight with a vintage yet polished production. Eaglespeaker's lyrical content tells a story of living with addiction: stuck in an endless cycle of making mistakes, hurting others, apologizing and doing it all again. Trapped in a web of lies woven into every aspect of life, you're left asking yourself "was I ever taught how to love?". When the one that truly loves you stays up all night waiting with the porch light on, this haunts you. Excuses only go so far until eventually you're out of booze, out of drugs and out of your mind. Shed a Little Light is an ode to those that see that porch light and make their way back home to stay. Its easy to stay lost, it takes work to make it work. Don't be right, do right.
